The Philosophy of Aikido

The purpose of aikido is to train mind and body and to produce sincere, earnest people. Since all techniques are to be transmitted person-to-person, do not randomly reveal them to others, for this might lead to their being used by hoodlums.

-Morihei Ueshiba

The original philosophy of Aikido was taken from it's founder.
This was a blend of Omoto-kyo Shinto worship, Buddhism, Respect of nature, Kototama and teaching from the Chinese classics.

However very few people can speak with any authority on the beliefs of the founder.

In the modern day we speak of 'doing no harm' to others, even our enemy.

Instead seeking victory over our own greed, pride, fear and anger

"Masakatsu Agatsu" - True victory is victory over oneself..

-Morihei Ueshiba
